This Teapot and set of 4 tea bowls are inspired by the texture of mountain rocks. The 4 tea owls have an intentionally small foot paired with a rounded bottom to encourage you to be present while drinking tea. This is to encourage users to take a break from their day and focus on nothing while having tea.

The body is dark stoneware, left largely unglazed so the texture does the work. I carved the surface of each cup by hand. the same rhythm of marks across all four, though no two came out quite the same. The texture again is inspired by the texture of mountain rocks. The glaze sits only at the rim, pooling slightly where it meets the raw clay . The balance between the rough textured clay and the smooth glazed surface is something I like to play with in my work.

This is a functional set, made to be used. The pieces will develop their own character over time, which is part of the point.

Inspired by the Scottish mountains, these sake vessels bring a touch of ruggedness and nature to your drinking experience.
